Halsey has heard all the misconceptions about her pregnancy and relationship with the baby’s father, Alev Aydin, but she sets the record straight in her short story Seduce cover story.

When the singer announced her pregnancy in late January and tagged the screenwriter on her baby bump, fans didn’t know Aydin. In March, Halsey put an end to all rumors about her pregnancy and told her 25 million Instagram followers that it was “100% planned, and I’ve worked hard for this baby.” Now she’s letting everyone know that she and Aydin had known each other for many years before they started dating privately.

“Alev and I have been really good friends for four years. And when the stars aligned, our relationship became romantic and it was pretty obvious that he and I were both like, ‘Oh my God! You are the person I’m supposed to have a family with, “she said in the new interview.” No one knew I was dating someone. As if people were entitled to an update, like: “I met someone, we have dates, things are getting serious, they have moved in, we are planning a child, we are having a baby, we are had a baby, that’s the type…. ‘”

Aydin was asked to write the film about the life of Halsey which was announced in 2018, and Halsey recently explained the romantic-comedy-worthy reason the biopic was postponed to a curious Twitter follower. “Bc alev was supposed to write it for the last 3 years and we slowly fell in love instead. You know the rest!” she tweeted in May.

While the movie about her life is still pending, Halsey sees her happily ever after in real life. But there have been roadblocks along the way – one of the main ones being the fame of the Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum singer. “I made a commitment to give my whole life; my relatives did not do it ”, she explained to Seduce. But she remembered a night that felt like a “movie scene” when she felt the constant attention around her might have been too much for the filmmaker.

“Part of the reason it took Alev and I so long to start dating is because I loved her so much,” she added. “He was writing a movie about my life, a biopic, so we spent a lot of time together. One night we went to a really public place together. As we were leaving I was swallowed by a crowd of paparazzi and fans and people who wanted me to sign vinyls and whatever. It was all very dramatic, like a scene from a movie. I looked over my shoulder and he was pushed away from the crowd and I was like, “Oh, my God, I didn’t even say goodbye! I remember sitting in the car and thinking, “I will never be able to see him again.” I love him too much to ruin his life and drag him into all this madness. He quickly reminded me that I was super melodramatic and he said, “I don’t care.” It’s not so bad.'”

While he doesn’t mind navigating married life in the limelight, Halsey wonders how they’ll navigate their baby’s multicultural identity, which Gigi Hadid said in another interview that she and Zayn deal with. about their baby girl Khai. Halsey, who is mixed race, spoke to the magazine about being ‘passing white’ and the struggles she and her mixed family have faced, including micro-aggression.

“My little brother’s name is Sevian. He is brown, not phenotypically black; he just looks like a fair skinned mixed guy. He and I were having a conversation about micro-aggression, and he was like, ‘In high school they called me Slavic,’ ”she recalls. “It puts people in a comfortable position because he’s not black enough for them to recognize evil, but he’s not white either, so the joke is there, right?” “

When it comes to Halsey’s child’s understanding of her multi-ethnic identity, the pop star said she faces another set of challenges. “I’m biracial, Alev is from the Middle East and our child is going to have a black grandfather and a Turkish grandfather – there is Christmas and there is Ramadan,” said Halsey. “They are going to grow up in this kind of multicultural home and I have new challenges because of that.”
