Gillette Castle State Park will be featured in an article to be featured in the Fall 2021 edition of Estuary magazine.

The six-page article – titled “A Man’s Home is His Castle: William Gillette and the Seventh Sister” – focuses on the late actor’s story, his writings, his international performances and the retirement home he he built on top of a hill above the Connecticut River.

Eric D. Lehman’s article features photographs of the interior and exterior of Gillette Castle by Kelly Hunt of Capture the Moment Photography. The article was written after consultation with members of the Friends of Gillette Castle State Park.

Magazine editor Dick Shriver said he grew up in Connecticut and had fond memories of his visit to the site.

“Gillette Castle is a unique Connecticut treasure that continues to improve under the direction of the State Park,” said Shriver.

Estuary promotes itself as a quarterly magazine aimed at people who care about the history, health and ecology of the Connecticut River.

Subscriptions can be obtained online at estuarymagazine.com, although the subscription deadline for the Gillette Castle issue has passed, he said.

Friends of Gillette Castle National Park is a non-profit group of volunteers dedicated to the preservation, conservation and educational activities of the building and its grounds. More information can be found at www.gillettecastlefriends.org.
